about
William rushing

1936-2009

A native of California, William Rushing grew up in the Eastern High Sierra Mountains, living and working on a cattle ranch. There, he developed an appreciation for the lifestyle, the land with its changing scenery, and the vistas of the high country.

William Rushing worked in opaque watercolor and oil. He approached his subject matter with the love born of a long, close association with the land. His unquenchable desire to paint "true-to-nature"  developed a technique that was demanding and dictates intense study of his subject. He strived to develop an appealing atmosphere in which the viewer was invited to become an active participant.

As a true, unique artist, William Rushing preferred bold color and contrast that created dimension and brilliance in his work.
